they could do a hybrid of this idea and those that wanted to battle online but were too worried about cheating (you'd still have to have a server to do so) could just use other player's pokemon in their solo battles, and those that wanted to do so could use their own pokemon in an online battle.
thing is, they already did have a similar idea for pokemon trading, and people hated that (and it's sad, but it also makes sense). i'd imagine that people would be ok with this if it was just another way to battle online.
- If you make the pokemon you use have to be consistent, then it makes the new pokemon you use appear more interesting because the developer has to come up with new pokemon and give them looks, moves, abilities, etc. Then as you use the new pokemon, you get to know it more and start seeing its flaws. If the pokemon is good, then you get to make the flaws less obvious because you've used it so much (kind of like what happened with Pikachu and the clones).
[2] Overall, I think the new system was well done. The new x and y movements were a nice change, but the one part that I wish they would of went back to was the Dpad. I'm disappointed that the Dpad is no longer a consistent element of the pokemon. There shouldn't be a difference between using the Dpad to attack and using the B button to attack. 827ec27edc
