This, the PARKWAY DRIVE vocalist says, is a pretty good summation of himself. It holds true, too, as one of the guiding principles behind "Darker Still", the seventh full-length album to be born of this picturesque and serene corner of north-eastern NSW, Australia, and the defining musical statement to date from one of modern metal's most revered bands.
Like the christmas-at-Mum's house-era albums "A Season Of Dying" and "A Season Of Dead" - "Darker Still" showcases the kind of heavy, intense, and, at times, consuming material that is best served in a quiet environment, preferably of the four corners variety. Still, that's not a very good idea in the case of Parkway Drive, a band that is too much of heat to be concealed (and, if you want to know a little about this record, that is exactly what you should expect the general public to want or need to hear).
The album title was determined by an old-fashioned (and now defunct) Australian film-rating system, billed as "The Australian Classification Board of Film & Television Classification" and featuring an uneasy Gothic twin-snake logo. The rating board's voluntary classification guidelines are no longer in use and the Parkway Drive name is not perfect, either, as its Irish Gaelic origins fan the flames of debate. d2c66b5586
